On the winter solstice of 2018, in the early morning hours at Caochangdi Art District in Beijing, Wang Langgou secretly buried three pieces of ice cubes in three different locations. He firmly believes that one day in the future, they will be unearthed by someone destined to find them and be brought back into the world.
“Terma” refers to a tradition in Bon and Tibetan Buddhism where spiritual treasures are hidden by great masters during times of peril, with the intent of rediscovering them in the future to preserve and transmit sacred teachings. These treasures, known as Terma, are categorized into texts, statues, holy relics, and collections.
